Hispanic News Forges Partnership with the Blue Dogs of the Democratic Party and Americause in Calling for the Impeachment of President George W. Bush

PHOENIX (By Jon Garrido) February 5, 2007 — Attempts by distinguished members of Congress calling for the pardons of Border Patrol Officers convicted for attempting to secure the unlawful entry of drugs into the United States have been ignored by the White House. An escalation of action is therefore required.

Members of Congress calling for the pardons of Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean are not going to be acted upon. It is in our National Interest to protect our border and when requests for assistance are ignored, an escalation of action is the only option.

Therefore, Hispanic News has accepted a proposal to forge a partnership with the Blue Dogs of the Democratic Party and Americause calling for the impeachment of President George Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice for High Crimes and Misdemeanors which include not securing the border with Mexico allowing entry of drugs into the United States. The High Crimes and Misdemeanors are identified in www.BlueDogs.us.

The conviction of American Border Patrol Officers of Hispanic heritage for doing their duty to protect America was the catalyst precipitating Hispanic News to call for the border to be secured preventing the unlawful entry of drugs into the United States to include pursuit of drug smugglers into Mexico.

It is long over due double standards for patrolling the border come to a halt. For Mexican military to assist drug smugglers to bring drugs into the USA is unacceptable and for the Mexican government to call foul with US Border Patrol or DEA pursuit of drug smugglers into Mexico is antiquated policy and must be changed.

If necessary for this enforcement to be approved by Mexico, trade sanctions could be imposed on Mexico with possible trade coming to a halt until approval is forth coming. After a reasonable period of time, if trade sanctions have not worked, then American enforcement officers will begin pursuit of drug smugglers into Mexico without Mexican approval.

If drug smuggling into the United States continues from Mexico, sanctions must be escalated to a higher level forbidding Americans to visit Mexico. Forbidding American tourists visiting Mexico is probably the most devastating action the United States can take to bring drug smuggling to a halt.

This harsh action is required because drugs from Mexico are devastating America's youth and communities. Methamphetamine use in rural areas in the United States is rampant. Most drugs enter the USA from Mexico which can not stop drug flow into the United States; therefore, the only option becomes to secure the border and not allow any movement — person or trade product without inspection to come across the U.S. border from Mexico. Any movement by definition is all inclusive. Inspecting 1 vehicle out 20 allows 19 vehicles to proceed usually carrying hidden drugs. US Customs must be adequately staffed to inspect all vehicles. Furthermore, all persons must be inspected as done in boarding an airplane in the United States.

Only as a high priority will securing the border stop destruction of our youth from drug abuse. The United States must seal national borders to prevent drug smuggling with drug smugglers receiving a mandatory 10 year prison sentence in the United States. For trade with the United States, a rule of law must be required modeled after the U.S. for all countries with US Customs and Border Patrol granted pursuit into Mexico to apprehend drug smugglers. Currently, Mexico does not impose life sentences for any crime. As a requirement of trade with the United States, the Mexican government must be required to change its trial system to have lawyers argue a case in open court. The current system has attorneys submit documents to a judge who reads them and reaches a verdict behind closed doors. The secrecy is prone to corruption and bungling, and doesn't inspire public confidence or rightful conviction with jail time. Drug smugglers simply buy protection from judges that issue no convictions. There is no rule of law in Mexico. There is no Habeas Corpus. There is no transparency. Corruption is rampant throughout Mexico and it this primarily that prevents the creation of good paying jobs causing Mexicans to seek a better life in America.

American Hispanics in the USA have been strong active advocates for comprehensive immigration reform; however, American Hispanics are Americans first and deplore Mexicans responsible for smuggling drugs and distributing these drugs in the United States to American Hispanic children. Consequently, American Hispanics begin to support securing the border to prevent drug smuggling into the United States.

Hispanic News, the Blue Dogs of the Democratic Party and Americause will work in tandem building a united front toward preventing the flow of drugs into the U.S. In return for obtaining support from Hispanic News vitally needed in dealing with securing the border, the Blue Dogs of the Democratic Party and Americause advocate and support comprehensive immigration reform to include all immigrants pay IRS taxes, learn English and enroll in citizenship classes provided by Ayuda funded by the US government and operated by Hispanic News. Lastly, Blue Dogs and Americause agree to support the "Dream Act" as proposed by Hispanic News which will build upon the one previously debated by the US Senate.

There are other issues that can be better addressed acting in tandem. Hispanic News, the Blue Dogs of the Democratic Party, and Americause join together on securing the border and further agree to address other issues important to the well being of Middle America by primarily returning manufacturing jobs back to the United States and preventing the implementation of the North American Union.

It is not only securing the border that is so lacking. The reason for not securing the border begs the question: Is the Bush Administration in cahoots, questionable collaboration or even secret partnership with Mexico and the rest of the Americas to implement an agreement establishing trade without borders as the European Union. There are precursor programs now being formulated in secret without transparency leading to creating a North American Union.

Whatever the case, Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean were overtly punished for their zeal in trying to stop the flow of drugs from Mexico. Ramos and Compean may have exposed the workings of the North American Union to have open borders. If Ramos and Compean intruded into the workings of some future trade agreement, a Presidential pardon will never be forthcoming leaving the only alternative — Impeachment.

Ramos and Compean were guarding the Mexican border near El Paso on February 17, 2005 when they intercepted a van carrying 743 pounds of marijuana. For what happened next, they were convicted and sentenced under a statute that was designed to impose heavy punishment on criminal drug smugglers caught in the commission of a crime.

On January 17, the two agents began serving 11- and 12-year prison terms, respectively for the crime of putting one bullet in the buttocks of the admitted drug smuggler, Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, and failing to report the discharge of their firearms. The non-fatal bullet didn't stop the smuggler from running to escape in a van waiting for him on the Mexican side of the border.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher called the two agents heroes. "Because of their actions, more than a million dollars in illegal drugs were stopped from being sold to our children. Bringing felony charges against them is a travesty of justice beyond description."

Hispanic News also believes the Americans of Hispanic heritage are Border Patrol heroes and Hispanic News becomes one of many working to rectify the wrong imposed on two of our own.
